Craft Fair makes

Here are a few of the things we made at the last card making class of this year - they are also for selling at some of the craft fairs we are holding to raise money for school funds - an easel card 2015 calendar, a small photo album and a money/gift card wallet.

Robin treat boxes

These wee treat boxes are the 'robin' version of the 'penguins' I made last week - I just used chocolate chip and cherry cobbler card this time and the owl builder punch for the feet.  I used the 1 and 3/8" circle punch instead of the oval for the tummy.  The basic treat box is made using the curvy keepsake box die and can be adapted for all sorts of things.

Mini crackers

I have made lots of these wee crackers for upcoming craft fairs using last years designer christmas paper stacks (for this year's click HERE).  They measure 4.5 inches by 6.5" and are the perfect size.  You score the paper longwise at each inch using the simply scored board (1", 2, 3 and 4) - the extra half inch is for sticking it together at the end.
Then score 1.5" from each end and punch each of the folds 1.5" from each end using the envelope
punch board.

I then decorated each end using the scalloped border punch (sadly discontinued) and use double sided tape or glue to join the edges together.Tie each end quite tightly using narrow ribbon such as  silver 1/8" or real red 1/8"  and decorate with a poinsettia made using the petite petals punch
or a snowflake made using the smaller of the two dies in the thinlets snowflake set.  I put chocolate mint creams inside for selling at craft fairs, but they could also hold a small piece of jewellery or money.

Penguin Parade

I have been making these wee penguins using the curvy keepsake box thinlits die for some Christmas craft fairs.  The beak and feet were punched out of crushed curry card using the mini heart punch and the modern label punch.  The tummy was punched out of whisper white using the extra large oval punch then trimmed down to about 4cm.  The eyes were punched with the 1/2" and 3/8" circle punches and the wings using the large oval punch. Finally, I used the  white Stampin' chalk marker pen to highlight the eyes.

WOYWW 281

What's on my work desk this week - well its a penguin production line!  My friend and I are taking a table at a couple of Christmas craft fairs to raise some money for school and so I have been getting a start made on some wee penguin treat boxes - not sure what I'll put inside yet - they hold quite a lot but I don't want them to cost too much - if anyone has a good idea let me know! To find out what the world's work desks hold this week, visit Julia HERE where all will be revealed. (Sorry about the poor quality of the photo - my children have 'borrowed' the leads for the camera again and I had to use the phone instead.)

Christmas gifts and tags class

I am planning a class for this Friday morning (3rd Oct) - 10:30 - 12:30 with a repeat on the following Saturday afternoon (11th, 2 - 4pm)  if enough folks are interested?  We will again be focusing on Christmas - though instead of cards we will be making gifts, tags, etc. (I will try to get a photo up soon). If anyone missed out on the Christmas card class and would still like to attend, I may be able to repeat it on a Saturday afternoon as well - please get in touch.  We made a variety of four different cards using some of the new Christmas sets.

If you would like to attend the class this Friday, please let me know by Wednesday night.  The cost be £10 as usual.

Owl punch mini cards

I made these mini cards (4" x 4") to send out to let my needle craft group know that we are starting back tomorrow night.  The background was stamped by inking one of the acrylic blocks with Pistachio Pudding ink and the paper used for the owls are from the All Abloom paper stack.

WOYWW 277

It has taken me a few weeks after the holidays to get organised enough to participate in WOYWW (- to join in visit Julia HERE).  For once I was too busy to do any crafting on holiday and it was really too hot anyhow. We had a fantastic time, despite all the alarming reports on the media.

I have been trying out some new stash today and also preparing a few ideas for a class on Christmas gifts, boxes and tags next Friday.  The wee curvy box thing has been die cut from thick vellum, stamped with snowflakes and pricked - it contains a battery operated tea light and I think I may make a few for our Christmas craft fair.  The paper pack is in my favourite colours - aqua, teal and lime green, so I may have to save some just to look at!!

Baby cards

A couple of baby cards we made at one of the recent classes using the thinlits circle card die (133408) and stamps from the zoo babies set (130453, wood or 130456, clear).  For the baby girl card we used Blushing Bride cardstock, paper and ribbon and for the boy one Marina Mist.

The sentiment was punched out with the word window punch (119857) and mounted on top of a coloured piece punched out with the modern label punch (119849).

Back at last!

It has taken me a couple of weeks to get back into things after returning from holiday - it didn't help that we came home on Monday the 1st of September and were straight back into school on Tuesday morning! - I've just about got all the washing an ironing up to date this week.  Last Friday we had a Christmas class - even though the weather was beautiful and it seemed a bit strange to be thinking of Christmas.  We made two cards using the traditional reds and greens and then a further two using my favourite pack of DSP 'All is Calm' - just my colours. Sorry the photo is not so good - just a quick snap taken on my phone.

WOYWW 271

I don't normally 'do' Christmas until the very last minute, but I got a few of the new SU stamp sets on pre-order yesterday and I just had to try them out! - Mind you, it may be quite some time before they actually become part of a finished card! To take part in the weekly 'nosey' around everyone's work desk this week, visit Julia HERE.

Fair Ladies Stamping Class

Here are a couple of photos of the eight crafty ladies who came to my class today in The Fair Ladies Craft Emporium, Fivemiletown.  They certainly look happy anyhow!  I have another class in the morning and will be placing an order tomorrow evening so if anyone would like anything let me know.

WOYWW 269

I forgot today was Wednesday so I'm a bit late with my WOYWW picture (click HERE for details).  I'm preparing for my class in The Fair Ladies Craft Emporium - so busy cutting, folding etc, to get all the wee packs made up.  I just hope I don't forget something vital - all my classes so far have been held at home, so it's easy to pop up to my craft room if there's something else we need - and I've a head like a sieve these days!!

Notelets set

I made up some of the coloured poppies into a wee notelet set using two of the new 'In colours' - Blackberry Bliss and Hello Honey.  The paper is from the 'Moonlight' paper stack and I've used the Blackberry Bliss Stampin' Write marker for stamping and the ribbon is also Blackberry Bliss.  The box was made using the envelope punch board and holds the four cards and envelopes (4" x 4") and is held closed with the co-ordinating belly band.  I think I will maybe make up a few of these sets in different colours/designs for our next craft fair!

Blendabilities

I have been trying out the new blendabilities pens by trying out a variety of colours on the same image.  Unfortunately this stamp is no longer available, but I thought it was a good one to use to try out shading with the new pens.  The first one is using Cherry Cobbler, the second Rich Razzleberry, next one is Daffodil Delight and the final one Coastal Cabana.  Sorry the photos are not particularly sharp, but my camera doesn't seem to like to take very close up photos!!  The lighting isn't exactly great either - all of the images are stamped on white card, but the first three were taken without the flash.  Although the colours match exactly with the card, ribbon etc of the same name, they also co-ordinate with some of the other colours - for example, the Rich Razzleberry also works with the new Blackberry Bliss card and the Daffodil Delight with the new Hello Honey colour.

Maritime

This is one of the cards we made at the class on Friday morning, using my favourite set of papers from the new catalogue - 'Maritime'.  The background card is Night of Navy and the anchor is from The Open Sea set of stamps.  We also used the banner punch to do the wee flags down the side.

Card making class

I almost forgot to show the photos of my class hard at work this morning!

Friday 6 June 2014

Fathers Day / Male Birthday cards

These are the cards we made at the latest class this morning.  The tractor from the stamp set 'Harvest Blessings' was used for the first card - this set is on the retired list so will no longer be available after the end of this month.  The image was water coloured using Marina Mist, Midnight Muse, Smokey Slate and Old Olive Stampin' Write markers and a water brush.  The cardstock used was Naturals White, Midnight Muse (retiring), and Marina Mist. The Natural Trim is also retiring.

The next card was made using the World Map background stamp and the anchor from the 'Open Sea' stamp set.  The map was lightly sponged with Summer Starfruit and Midnight Muse ink.  The banner punch and stamp set were free gifts during Salebration but will be returning in the new annual catalogue. The thick twine in Summer Starfruit was also a Salebration gift, but there will be other colours of this thicker twine available soon also.

The garden shed card was made using the Hardwood background stamp and the cupcake punch for the clouds.  The background card is Soft Sky and the grass made from Gumball Green (retired).  The leaves were made using the Bird punch and the red flower, using the itty bitty punch pack (retiring).  I didn't have the 1" square punch so used the postage stamp shaped one (but the other one has now been ordered!).  I think I may need to make a few more of these in more girly designs with lots of flowers and pots!

The final card was made using more of the stamps from the Open Sea set.  The ship and compass was stamped in Early Espresso onto Crumb Cake card.  We used the White Chalk marker to colour the sails and the Gold marker to colour around the edge of the compass. This panel was layered onto Island Indigo card.  The old ledger was stamped onto Naturals Ivory card and then torn and inked around the edges. Island Indigo bakers twine (retiring) was threaded through a Naturals button (retiring).

This weeks challenge on CCT is So Macho - so I think all of these could be entered there.

Retiring items

The list of retiring items is now available - these will only be available until the end of June (or while stocks last) when the new catalogues come out.  So this will be your last chance!!
